It’s mid-February.  It is not the most happening time in sports right now.  When that happens at Top 7 headquarters, it’s time to go deep into the topic back and pull something out.  Anything.  For this week, that happens to be Full House episodes related to sports.  Full House isn’t all about The Rippers, the Smash Club, Comet, and the Ranger Joe Show.  No, they can throw some sports themes out there too.  It’s impossible to at least not sneak a peak if Full House is on, just as it’s not possible to throw up in your mouth a little bit as you watch.

dannytanner.jpg7. Danny wins at pool and darts
Challenging one Daniel Tanner to any game is a mistake, and Uncle Jesse learned that the hard way, when he battled him in some pool to try to settle a dispute.  Danny destroyed him.  A distraught Jesse then challenged him to darts, which Danny aced as well.  Jesse and Joey then took to gambling on spinning in a chair.

6. Stephanie dances
Steph is versatile, and she joined the dance team with some friends, practicing to MoTownPhilly, the version of it that you would find on a generic karaoke CD.  What happened to Boyz II Men?  They rule.

5. Joey plays hockey
Joey plays in a celebrity hockey game for charity that is inexplicably also on local San Francisco radio, hosted by Jesse (before Becky takes over for him).  His archrival plays against him, but the real battle for him becomes weighing playing hard and scary, and not frightening Michelle to the point that she does not want to hug him.

johnstamos.jpg4. Jesse plays basketball with Kareem Abdul-Jabbar
When Full House pulled off a celebrity appearance, it didn’t have to be the Beach Boys that made the appearance.  Kareem became Jesse’s personal coach in another one of those charity events, this time basketball, and figured out that Jesse had a “sweet spot” that he could not miss from.  Kareem has been steadily downhill since Airplane.  He has been in Full House and Slam Dunk Ernest.

3. Danny and Joey play basketball
In the history of classic hoops matchups, Gladstone/Tanner is up there with Chamberlain/Russell, Bird/Magic, and James/Kobe.  This particular game got a bit heated, as Danny was jealous of Joey and Jesse’s developing friendship, and Danny took his ball and went home.

2. Michelle falls off a horse
This one is hard to discuss, it sadly ended the Full House series, and life has not been the same since.

1. The Tanner Twister
Throwing the ball around in the backyard, Danny discovers that Stephanie has a wicked curve ball.  She joins the team, but is forced to choose between winning for her team, or giving her boyfriend Brett a good pitch to drop a bomb off of.  She has to seek counsel from pitching coach DJ.  Had she served up the long ball, it would have probably haunted her career much like Chan Ho Park leaving one out there for Cal Ripken in his final All-Star Game.

The Top 7 is written by Jason Major.  He heard from Lorimar Television and Miller-Boyett Productions that Brett was Stephanie's meth-pusher.  Email him at jason@joesportsfan.com

everyone posting has got to stop hating...Sports is great Full House is greatHowever, you forgot to mention the episode where DJ's cousin Steve (played by Kirk Cameron, her real life brother) came to visit the Tanners. In this epsiode, DJ was upset that she was getting very little attention from her favorite cousin cuz all he would do was play sports with Jesse, Joey and Danny. So in order to get some attention of her own she turns up the intensity in a game of touch football. In a fit of rage she tackles Steve to the ground as everyone looks in shock. Embarassed by what she has just done, she runs away in tears. LOL...I'm going to verbally lashed for rememebring this...

The fact that this post exists makes me weep for humanity. I hope that you are proud of your role in the dumbing down of society. Die in a fire, terdmitter!!

Oh, and the one with DJ thinking she is too far would have definitely knocked someone off of the list. Ditto "DANNY TANNER BY A NOSE!" I am ashamed of myself for forgetting some things.

The point of the freaking "article" is that it's stupid. Sorry, anonymous Deadspin link guy, to not live up to your level of high culture.
Martin, February 15, 2008 10:02 AM
Wasn't there an episode where Michelle played soccer and scored a goal in her own team's net? I'm sorry I remember that. Also, in the "Stephanie Dances" episode I think Danny does the high jump in Stephanie's dream sequence.
Sebek, February 15, 2008 09:02 AM
Imig is stupid.
Patrick, February 15, 2008 09:02 AM
I thought the same thing about the Deadspin comment. You see the link on Deadspin, you click it, and then you comment about the stupidity of the article and the stupidity of it being linked on Deadspin. Hmmm.. And for the record, I don't think anyone on this site would deny this list's stupidity -- nor would we deny the stupidity of most things we do here.

Have Mercy!

Not shocking that said person neglcts to identify themself.
JB, February 15, 2008 07:02 AM
What's shocking is that someone would read the Deadspin link, see what the article is about, then click it anyway and act surprised at what they see.
Ray Finkle, February 15, 2008 07:02 AM
It has not been a direct downward path for Kareem as he did appear in BASEketball.
Ric Flair, February 15, 2008 06:02 AM
Did all Miller-Boyett houses (Hogan Family, Family Matters, Step by Step) have a staircase in the living room and kitchen?
Chris, February 15, 2008 06:02 AM
You also could have included Danny covering a boxing match in one of the real early episodes when he was still a sportscaster and not the co-host of "Wake Up, San Francisco." I also vaguely remember him practicing with the Golden State Warriors. Or maybe that was "Hangin' With Mr. Cooper?" Bob Saget and Mark Curry are nearly identical.
Weave, February 15, 2008 06:02 AM
How do you miss the episode where Joey, Jessie and Danny race to see who has to wear which costumes. Becky brings the local TV crew, and as they struggle to finish 400 meters, Danny's schnoz wins the race for him.
Patrick, February 15, 2008 05:02 AM
Jesus, Steve was a douche. And I'm going to formally submit a request to Mr. Major about another missed-out sports episode --- the one where DJ tries to lose weight and passes out at the gym so she looks good in her bathing suit. I believe she gives her bologna sandwiches to Comet so as to avoid caloric intake. Much more sporty than Stephanie dancing.
Steve Flack, February 15, 2008 05:02 AM
This list sadly lacks the episode that featured a guest appearance by Kirk Cameron, which brought us the classic catch phrase "Let's Play Some Fooootball!"-Steve!

Two pics of Jesse's mullet in one week? Very nice.

For reasons unbeknownst to the photographer, Rafael Landestoy was sitting on a tricycle when this picture was taken.
