Picking an appropriate image to complement a delicately-crafted sports headline is nearly as important as the headline itself. It helps to visually set the mood.

Headlines of exultation typically have a picture of an athlete jumping for joy or pumping their fists.  Headlines of anger or anguish almost always contain an athlete screaming or pouting.  And, headlines dealing with injuries to a man's groin usually have a man, well, holding his groin.
