For the second straight week, MNF was a clunker of a game.  This go around, the 49ers did their best Ravens impression and the Seahawks dominated offensively and defensively to the tune of a 24-0 beating.  Nancy Alexander didn't play, which is somewhat surprising because the game was on "PRIME TIME" and Nancy loves the spotlight, but it also wasn't surprising because he's Nancy Alexander.

In a beautiful twist of *irony*, Mike Holmgren and the Seattle offense announced to Rachel Nichols prior to kickoff that not having Alexander would change the offensive philosophy: instead of running to set up the pass, the Seahawks would pass to set up the run.  Um, how is that any different than what pass-happy Mike Holmgren does every week?

On the other side of things, San Francisco is struggling mightily.  Mike Nolan braved an embarrassing defeat with the recent passing of his father weighing on his mind (insert Favrian joke/line here) and Frank Gore was held to less than 80 yards rushing for the 6th time in 8 games.  For the year, Gore hasn't hit the 90 yard rushing mark and has just 3 rushing touchdowns.  Fantasy bust, he is.

Part of the reason for Gore's demise is the failure of Alex Smith to adjust without Norv Turner - or maybe it's just sucking.  Smith was 12/28 for 118 yards with zero and zero last night, and on the season, he's completed 49.7% of his passes for 800 yards, with 2TD and 4INT in 6 games.  In 30 career games (we discount the game he left injured prior to throwing a pass in late September), Smith has 19TD, 31INT and a 54% completion rating.  Whether it's because Norv Turner is gone or the fact that Ashley Lelie is one of his wide receivers, Smith has regressed horribly this season.  And the 49ers have scored 17 points or fewer in 8 straight games.  Even the Rams and Dolphins aren't that bad.

And to answer my question in the title of this post, it's right now.  Smith is unequivocally on the righteous path to David Carr.  While Smith owns a unhealthy-yellow-faced 19TD/31INT ratio through his first 30 games, Carr has him one-upped; sort of.  Carr's first 30 starts netted him 20TD and 31INT.  In other words, Alex Smith is statistically identical to David Carr, give or take the one TD pass.  Scary --> and Smith isn't nearly as beautiful as David Carr.

49ERS FEVER... CATCH IT!!!!

THANK GOD WE SIGNED NATE CLEMENTS FOR $80 MILLION$!!!

Remember how the 'Niners were deciding on whether to take Smith or Aaron Rodgers with their #1 pick? Do you think Rodgers would rather be A.) making more money and getting his ass handed to him weekly...or, B.) be doing what he's doing, which is hugging Favre after every TD pass America throws? Yeah, I'd go with B, too.

Please don't throw me out there I am very content getting paid to be talked about but never expected to actually do anything.

The best part is that the Patriots are gonna end up getting a ridiculously high pick and go undefeated for two straight years. I hope Tom Brady comes out of the closet soon.

David, thanks for showing me the proper way to bring down a QB. One thing, I haven't seen any of them suck their thumb as good as you in under a dogpile.

Suddenly Tim Rattay doesn't seem like such a bad option.

That's $40,000,000 an interception baby! And the two guys who replaced him have 3 INTs on the season at less than a million a year.

I'm going to run for 2,000 yards this year!

Don't you listen to the media!? It's not me, its my crappy O-Lines.
