Cardinals Prospect Watch: “Minor League Guy”
Spring Training is an opportunity for the familiar faces that populate Major League rosters to grease the axles and knock the dust off Winter inertia. But Spring Training isn’t just about the high-priced talent with tenure. Rookies, journeymen and non-roster invites get their chance to shine during the month of March.
Granted, some visits last longer than others. Some are so brief that home town networks don’t even know who the hell they are.
We’ve done our fair share of jersey research at JoeSportsFan. The one thing we’ve learned is that players come and go, and thus, no personalized jersey is safe from being irrelevant one day.
That being said, #91 “MINOR LEAGUE GUY” would look tremendous on the back of a personalized jersey.
We can’t wait to get a glimpse of #89 “CAN’T MISS PROSPECT” and #95 “ROOKIE WITH UPSIDE”. We hear both of those guys have a shot to make the club next season.
Note: #91 above is actually Oscar Taveras, a 19-year-old outfielder who hit .386/.444/.584 with eight homers and 62 RBIs at Quad Cities last season. He’s a stud. Let’s hope Fox Sports Midwest will be forced to learn his name soon.
