Fan Friday: Tino Martinez jerseys in St. Louis deserve bad mojo

Yesterday, my colleague Josh Bacott recapped Tino Martinez’s presence on the 2011 Hall of Fame ballots.

Tino received just six votes, which means his name is no longer be eligible for future selection. This, of course, made many Cardinals fans smile since Tino Martinez is one of the few humans to be universally disliked while donning the red-and-white.

Well, maybe not “universally”. “Universally minus one” might be more appropriate.

Mr. Bacott’s recap brought to mind one our favorite fan pictures in recent memory.

Yes, we usually prefer to mock pictures that contains shirtless, drunken bleacher malcontents. But given the context, this picture has an artsy allure to it.

A Tino Martinez fan. In St. Louis. He’s fought through fan adversity for years. And yet, he’s found true love.

But the rain. Oh, the rain. It shall rain on thee until you severe thy crappy threads from thy soul.
