That Weird MLB All Star Game Statue Hunt Continues…

In 2008, Major League Baseball began a unique promotion in New York City to commemorate the 2008 All-Star game at Yankee Stadium.  MLB strategically placed 8-foot replicas of the Statue of Liberty throughout the city of New York.  Each statue was painted with different colors and logos of the 30 Major League teams.

Last year, St. Louis continued the trend by placing painted Gateway Arches across the city – albeit, not for *every* Major League team.

This year in Anaheim, it’s Mickey Mouse statues – signifying a clear decline in the gimmick’s original intent.  I’m a big fan of Mr. Mouse, but Lady Liberty and the Gateway Arch are monuments.  Not, you know, a cartoon.

Nevertheless, here’s a pictorial rundown of the Cardinals All Star Game statues from the past three years.

(Hat Tip to Matthew Leach for the Mickey picture.)
