St. Louis Cardinals songs.

It’s something we’ve been fascinated with for years.  Thanks to the help of Damon Oliver, the official DJ at Busch Stadium, we posted a synopsis of the actual songs being used by the Cardinals earlier this season.

But we decided to have a little fun with player music in this week’s Weekly Hypothetical.

Without further ado, let’s get jiggy with it.

Too much sun, generous portions of Busch Light and poor directions will get any man into trouble, especially at Busch Stadium.  As such, you accidentally stumble your way into the DJ booth, where all player at-bat music is administered.  You’ve waited years for this opportunity; now it’s time to take advantage.

You have access to the deepest collection of music available and the ears of 40,000 at your disposal.

What song and what past/present Cardinals player are you choosing?”

We’ll read the best answers on Episode Eight of The JoeSportsFan Show.  You can participate one of three ways.

Colby Rasmus: “Fly Away” by Lenny Kravitz

  • RamPage95 says:

Going to go with David Eckstein and “Head Busta” by Lil Scrappy, since Eckstein was the scrappiest Cardinal of them all. I’m also picking this to further the rumors that Eckstein busted Pujols head back in the day after a fierce arm wrestling match.

Not really sure why, but I think it would be hilarious if Berkman strolled out to the song at the beginning of “Dumb & Dumber”. Clip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nw2jNvnTZGI

Google says that the song is “Boom Shack-A-Lak” by Apache Indian.

  • Crombastic says:

Rex Hudler: “Dirty White Boy” by Foreigner

  • Drewboy says:

Either Pink Floyd’s “Money” or Joe Walsh’s “Life’s Been Good” for The Machine, Albert Pujols.

  • Ryan R says:

“1st of Tha Month” by Bone Thugs n Harmony for Bo Hart. Not because Bo was on welfare, but because the lyrics ‘Wake up, wake up, it’s the first of the month” are symbolic of the end of Bo-Mania. Once his magical month was over, Bo was just a magical, scrappy memory.

Jon Jay…cobjingleheimerschmidt. His name is my name too…

    -or-

The “Cagney and Lacey” theme for Tom Pagnozzi, because he kind of looks like Tyne Daly (before she ate Cagney).

  • Gomer says:

Lance Berkman walking to the plate with C&C Music Factory blasting would be hilarious. I’m thinking ‘Got the Power’. Or he could really get cocky and go ‘Gonna Make You Sweat’. No explanation behind these choices other than I think it would be funny and it would fit his personality.

Jimmy Ballgame – “I Feel Pretty”

  • So Taguchi – “Turning Japanese” by The Vapors

Kerry Robinson – “Zero” by Smashing Pumpkins

Shelby Miller – “Summer Girls” by LFO (Abercrombie references all the way.)

  • John Fleming says:

Gotta go a little older school:

Enos Slaughter–Boyz N The Hood, by Eazy-E. What could be better than introducing the man who tried to boycott Jackie Robinson than “Thought that I had to be in Compton soon”? If you thought he had a mad dash in the 1946 World Series, imagine him evacuating the field after Eazy starts bumping.

  • Mark Dierker says:

Steve Kline: “Just Beat it” by Michael Jackson

  • Terry Schoonover says:

With his mullet blowing in the wind, I am going with “Dude Looks Like a Lady” for Tommy Herr.

  • Tim says:

Pedro Guerrero – “Deeez Nuuuts” by Dr Dre

  • Eddie says:

“Dogs Barking Jingle Bells” by a bunch of dogs – Tony LaRussa
“Short People” by Randy Newman – David Eckstein and Bob Costas
“Insane in the Membrane” by Cypress Hill – Joaquin Andujar

  • Tommy Herr – “Sexy and I know It” by LMFAO

Keith Hernandez & Darryl Porter – “Cocaine” by Eric Clapton

Jim Edmonds – “Boys Don’t Cry” – by The Cure

Tito Landrum Singing to Tommy Herr – “My Milkshake” by Kelis

Willie Mcgee – “The Duck Dance”

  • Leigh says:

David Freese- “Ice, Ice Baby” by Vanilla Ice
    Matt Holliday- “Holiday” by Madonna

  • Thunderlips says:

    Keith Hernandez – “Cocaine”…to easy?

  • Thunderlips says:

Ozzie Smith – What these Bitches Want by DMX

  • BBernie says:

Skip Schumaker: Fall Out Boy – “Headfirst Slide”

The song is truly awful. Just like his play.

Yadi Molina: The Pretenders – “Tattoed Love Boys”

Willie McGee: Jason Mraz – “The Beauty in Ugly”

Rafael Furcal: Ludacris – “One More Drink”

Keith Hernandez: Eric Clapton – “Cocaine”

      • BBernie says:

Sidney Ponson: McDonalds – “Im Lovin’ It”

Jason Isringhausen: Joe Nichols – “Dont Ruin it for the Rest of Us”

Al Hrabosky: Gnarls Barkley – “Crazy”, well I guess it should be Britney Spears’ “You Drive me Crazy” because that is the result of listening to him for 3 hours.
