EP40: The One with Andy Benes (and the Busch Stadium DJ)

At-bat music, closer anthems, mid-inning jingles and “Everybody Clap Your Hands”. They all go through one man at Busch Stadium and that man is Damon Oliver.  He started with the Cardinals in ’03 and this is his 11th season as the Busch Stadium DJ.

It was finally time to have him on the JoeSportsFan Show to talk the best and the worst of Cardinals stadium music.

JSF39: The One with Daryl Doran

Daryl Doran is the only player to play for every professional indoor soccer team in St. Louis.  That’s the Steamers, the Storm and the Ambush.  And the Steamers again.  If you’ve played for two instances of The Steamers, you pretty have a key to this city.  And an everlasting invite to be on The JoeSportsFan Show.

With an English Premier League game selling out Busch Stadium on May 23rd, we thought it was time to bring in the soccer legend to chat.

JSF38: The One with Pavol Demitra (and Zach McCrite from 101 ESPN)

This week, we go back to our Fly on the Wall who found himself in the board room where men who are responsible for launching the new can’t-miss radio station called 1380 The Woman talked strategy.

Additionally, we chat with Zach McCrite from 101 ESPN.  He’s host of the “Zach and Rammer Show” every day from 9 am to 11 am and a huge “Seinfeld” fan.  He also wasn’t born in St. Louis, which means…a.) he probably doesn’t like provel cheese, and b.) he has a unique perspective of this city’s media.  Right up our alley.

JSF37: The One with Keith Hernandez (and Kevin Kaduk from Yahoo Sports)

Kevin Kaduk jumped aboard Yahoo!’s “Big League Stew” blog in 2008 where he served as a lead columnist and editor.  Recently, he was promoted as the head honcho of all Yahoo! Sports Blogs.  That’s like one step away from editor of the entire Internet.  He’s been a friend of the Joe for sometime, even in spite of his Chicago roots.

It was time to have him on the show.

EP36: The One with Dennys Reyes (and Graham Bensinger)

Graham Bensigner started his own internet radio show when he was in the 8th grade.  In 2003 (when he was 17), it got picked up by ESPN Radio and he’s interviewed the likes of Pete Rose, David Stern, Mike Tyson and OJ Simpson.  Now, he hosts his own series entitled “In Depth with Graham Bensinger” and conducts interviews with sportspeople.  Additionally, he’s from St. Louis and does stuff on the internet, so we figured he was suitable for our digital dojo.

Oh, and we also pay our proper respects to #36, Dennys Reyes…while also breaking down the Cardinals 2013 Promotional Schedule.  Ground-breaking stuff.

JSF34: The One with Danny Cox (and The Sideline Hippie)

The Rams played the 49ers twice this season.  In the first matchup, we observed a rather hairy individual sauntering up and down the Rams sideline wearing NFL gear.  In the 2nd matchup between the two teams, we noticed the same individual.  But this time, he was wearing 49ers gear.  What gives?  Was he a spy?  Did he teleport from 1962?  The legend grew; nearly as fast as this malcontent’s malnourished mustache.

After some research, we found the man behind the myth.  He known simply as “The Bro” and has been working as a 49ers equipment manager for the past three seasons.  With his team in the Super Bowl, we demanded his insight.  We got it on this week’s show.  Well, kind of.

Some minor site news.   The small, scripted bits that have become a huge part of The JoeSportsFan Show will also be played on Friday mornings on 101 ESPN.  We kicked off this relationship last week.

In lieu of 101 ESPN listeners asking for more, we decided to devote this week’s episode of the show to our favorite bits created during 2012.  So, sit back, relax and allow the following bits to tickle your ear drums.

From JSF31: Sounds of the 2013 Cardinals Winter Warm-up
From JSF27: “Interviewing a sports talk radio host”
From JSF7: “Great Moments in Fan History: The First Streaker”
From JSF4: “Our MLB Insider, Skeeter Rosin”
