elishasinging.jpgThanks to familiar Media Circus target Peter King for dropping the following story on us.  I'd pay a pretty penny to get a listen in on this conversation:

Eli Manning, still basking in the post-Super Bowl glow, was eating dinner with fiancee Abby McGrew and center Shaun O'Hara at the famous Rao's Restaurant in Harlem. Manning saw Yogi Berra there and went to his table to say hello. He told Berra his dad was a huge fan, and he asked how many championships Berra had won with the Yankees.

"Ten,'' Yogi said.

"Wow,'' Manning said. "I only have nine to go to catch you.''

Everyone in the tiny place joined Dee Dee Bridgewater (Glinda in The Wiz) singing New York, New York. As Cindy Adams would say, only in New York, kids, only in New York.

"Hey Kid, why do you always have your mouth open?"

One reason his mouth is open could be that Eli is thrilled at the new Eli Manning t-shirt, presumably created by the prince of snappy lines, Jim Nantz.

You can't teach that kind of creativity, people.

And before I forget, special thanks and cheers go out to the previously mentioned Peter King.  Yes, we like to pick on him for his consistent name dropping and constant non-football-related content, but at least the man is stepping up to the plate for a good cause.  I had no idea King was so powerful.

Petey's been abusing his G.I. tract for years with all of the Reuben sandwiches, steak and egg bagels, and forced airplane pooping. About time he gave something back.

I agree (on both observations). I can't fathom that there is a group of people in the country, nay, the world who enjoy "draft season" as much or more than you know, football games. The Borat character is Paul Mirabella, FYI.

How can anyone enjoy draft season more than the regular season? Why would you care about a team drafting a guy or signing a free agent if you dont care about the results of that move. By the way doesnt the guy in the middle of the JSF worthless cards look like Borat.

I beg to differ.

Bill Gullickson

Expos manager Dick Williams was clueless why Gullickson always fell prey to Simon Says.
