JoeSportsFan

Edmonds2.jpegPart of the fun of seeing a former player on your favorite team sign with their bitter rivals, is that you can have a laugh at their expense by mocking their rookie card.  Okay, maybe that really isn't fun for most people, but it is for those of us who are searching for a way to introduce a new batch of Worthless Cards to the JoeSportsFan.com collection.

In this case, our presenter is none other than Jim Edmonds who recently signed with the Cubs after being released by the Padres.  In his 1994 Topps rookie card, you could already see the fire in his eyes as he stared out to centerfield and thought to himself "someday I'm going to make routine catches out there and proceed to fall down and act injured so everyone will fawn over me."  Mission accomplished.

Unfortunately, Jim's card didn't make the cut this month, but many others did, so check them out here.

And if you don't have time to cycle through them all, don't worry, we're pretty sure that Gem Mint Ten will be posting them on their site within a few days.

How do you spell retard?, May 16, 2008 07:05 AM
The cards are literally the only thing that make me laugh out loud. I have to stop looking sometimes, not wanting to laugh like a lunatic while my roomate is studying. The tags are priceless. 'Never seen boobs', 'jheri-curl', but 'possibly retarded' is the greatest.

Fellas, you have nothing to worry about. You are like Saturday Night Live and they are like MadTV. Occasionally they made me chuckle, but by and large, the quality over there is minor league compared to your cards (and MediaSpace ... the bit, not the poster). Remember that imitation is the sincerist form of flattery.

No one is saying they can't make fun of baseball cards - we're saying certain aspects of what they're doing is a rip job.
Alvaro Espinosa, May 15, 2008 06:05 PM
I don't think you have much of an argument. It would be pretty difficult to say you were the first and therefore the only site worthy to make fun of 80's and 90's baseball cards when they are such an obvious target of ridicule. It does bring up an interesting argument regarding the originality of blogs when in fact no one is copyrighting or claiming the rights to a story..no matter its ridiculousness.

I have already infultrated their web site insulting them and acusing them of stealing JSF material. All they had to say back was thanks the son of a bitch had nothing else to say what could he say he straight up stole your shit.
Doogie, May 15, 2008 09:05 AM
I agree with JB. There is some moderately funny stuff on that site, but the GMT fact is a complete rip job. And to say JSF "inspired" them is kind of a copout. That would be akin to me writing a book titled "Teenage Rebellion" and re-writing The Catcher in the Rye with different names and places - only to say "JD Salinger inspired me".
MEDIASPACE, May 15, 2008 09:05 AM
I'm with you. Bring the heat.
Mr. Irrelevant, May 15, 2008 08:05 AM
You guys don't have to be humble to those douche's. They straight up stole your stuff. As a matter of fact I will go on that site and raise hell. MEDIASPACE you with me.
Andrew P., May 15, 2008 08:05 AM
That Hugging Harold Reynolds page is a direct rip off of the JSF Collection. They even mentioned that it was "inspired" by you guys. If you're "inspired" by something, that doesn't mean you have the power to plagiarize.
JB, May 15, 2008 08:05 AM
GMT has some very funny stuff on there and there's plenty of room for mass mocking of baseball cards on the internet, but I think the "GMT Fact" hit a little close to home at JSF headquarters based on the similarities between those and what we've been doing for several years with the Worthless Card Collection.
Jason, May 15, 2008 07:05 AM
I'm glad I hadn't seen that GMT page before today. Stupid.
Great..., May 15, 2008 07:05 AM
addition to the collection.
bk, May 15, 2008 06:05 AM
MEDIASPACE should go bother them for a few months.
Krusty the Clown, May 15, 2008 06:05 AM
You stole my bit!
Mr. Irrelevant, May 15, 2008 06:05 AM
Those dudes ripped you guys the fuck off. Whats next are they gonna come up with a GMT " mediaspace"
holy crap!, May 15, 2008 05:05 AM
That site might as well send you guys monthly dividends.
Patrick, May 15, 2008 05:05 AM
That credit is fine, but their "GMT Fact" is a direct ripoff of the "unconfirmed player note" that made the Worthless Card Collection famous. No getting around that.
ChiTown Steve, May 15, 2008 05:05 AM
HELL YEAH
Cheese with that Whine, May 15, 2008 05:05 AM
maybe Gem Mint Ten will even give you credit. AGAIN.ttp://gemmintten.blogspot.com/2008/05/welcome-collectors.html
