Solve the Puzzle

"The Star-Spangled Banner is going on. I don't celebrate this sh*t. I'm black."

You have 10 seconds. Talk it out; good luck...

Never mind. You're probably too stupid to solve the puzzle. I'll give you a hint though: there are no more consonants remaining.

I too agree that Mr. Howard he has the right to say what he wants. But there is a time and place for everything, and he chose the wrong time and place for those comments. If he values the right to be able to say what he wants, then show some respect for the country you are a citizen of (that GIVES YOU the right to say what you want!!) show some respect and hold off on making your comments until the appropriate time. Had he done that, we probably would not be having this dicussion. Personally, if it was a joke, then I didn't get it, it was in poor taste. If it was his honest opinion, then he chose a poor place and time to express it. Again, he can say what he wants (even if I dislike it), that is his right, but along with that right comes the responsibility to act with a minimum of respect when voicing your opinions.

Hef, by your logic, you whined about me whining. I don't really care that what Howard said was a joke - there is some truth rooted in how he really feels. Kind of like Nick Saban jokingly making a racist slur off the record and having it hit the Internet. That said, Howard can say it. He has the freedom to do so - joke or otherwise. For me though, I have a hard time making light of such things. That's where Josh and I disagree. If you'd like to know why specifically I feel that way, I'd be happy to enlighten you.

Shot the fack ip? I don't get it.

I'll agree with kegler to an extent. It is an issue of respect which comes from recognizing that some things are just bigger and more important than yourself. That said, what Howard said wasn't wrong to say, it was just ridiculously stupid. JSF makes fun of people saying stupid things all the time. I think it would have been more effective to make fun of Howard rather than come off as offended by it.
kegler804, September 20, 2008 05:09 AM
Patrick....I agree with again 100%. Let's ignore the fact that it may or may not have been intended as a "joke". There is an issue of respect here. I was brought up to always remove your hat, stand up straight, and take your hands out of your pockets( or put one over your heart if you wish) when OUR and HIS national anthem was playing (including the Candian anthem...hockey games, Blue Jays), regardless of tghe event you may be attending from a little league game, a celebrity fundraiser, or a professional event. OUT OF RESPECT. If he wanted to make a joke about being black and not celebrating "those things", he could and should have waited until the anthem was done playing. And while I have the floor.....Would everyone please stop cheering and hollering until AFTER the anthem is plyed? I appreciate the enthusiasm, but wait till the singing is over.
Hef, September 20, 2008 05:09 AM
A quick impression of Imig: Whaaaa, a man I don't know made a joke to a friend privately and it was leaked on the internet and now I'm sooooo angry that I felt like making a stupid joke about it. And....scene.Not my best work, but I stand by it.
Patrick, September 19, 2008 07:09 PM
And I didn't break any laws by reacting to his reaction. I also don't think it's a funny joke at all. If it was meant to be a joke, it failed.
Matt, September 19, 2008 09:09 AM
I agree with Uncle Sam. It was essentially a home video that got put on Youtube. What's great about this country is that you have the right to say what Howard did and not get jailed and or executed for it. Yes, Howard sounds like a jack ass for saying it, and I think the majority of people disagree with what he said. But he didn't break any laws by saying this, which you can't say is the case for the many pro athletes plus he entire Bengals roster.
Uncle Sam, September 19, 2008 07:09 AM
I shed a tear today, not because of Josh Howard, but because of the incredible display of ignorance shown by everyone reacting to it, even you JSF. It's a non-story, a stupid joke which for some reason people have taken seriously and personally. God Bless America.
Jeremy, September 19, 2008 05:09 AM
he is worse then that guy from nuggets back in the 90's saying he wouldn't stand for the national anthem.
kegler804, September 19, 2008 05:09 AM
I could not agree more! This guy is beyond douch-bag status.
