Nearly 24 hours after the Mitchell Report surfaced, ESPN still has a corporate boner and Buster Olney still has some insight as to what's going on in our baseball world. After scanning the list of players involved in the scandalous scandal, it's become quite obvious that steroids are bad - and quite scandalous. Not only will they have long term health effects on the body, they'll also provide shitty stat lines for equally shitty players.
Jack Cust - Cust had 5 home runs in 70 career games before 2007 when he hit 26 bombs. I'm wondering when Chris Shelton will come out and publicly endorse Cust as best one hit wonder of the decade.
Chris Donnells - .233 career average in 450 career games
Cody McKay - 19 hits in 77 career at bats. McKay has a special place in Cardinals fans' hearts because he was so god awful. He only held an active roster spot because his daddy was (and still is) 1st Base Coach Dave McKay.
Howie Clark - 3 home runs in 294 career at bats.
Nook Logan - 2 home runs in 870 career at bats
Jim Parque - 5.42 career ERA
Adam Piatt - .248 career average, 149 strike outs in 521 at bats
Tim Laker - .226 average in 11 seasons
Stephen Randolph - .5.52 ERA in 109 games
Bart Miadich - 6.75 ERA in 12 games, also one of few Major Leaguers to have first name "Bart"
Jeff Williams - 7.49 ERA in 37 games
In addition to those names, Brady Anderson, David Justice and Chuck Knoblauch appeared in the Mitchell Report, in the same year they made their first appearance on the HoF ballot. Something tells me placing asterisks next to Brady and Chuck won't be an issue since they ain't going to Cooperstown; unless they plan on visiting.
Remember Kids...
Not only will they harm your body, they'll harm your batting average.
