After Hours in STL with the Stanley Cup
2012
Hockey fans in town may have heard that the Stanley Cup was making its way to St. Louis this week. As we all saw when they were bludgeoned by the eventual champion LA Kings, the appearance of perhaps the greatest trophy in sports had absolutely nothing to do with the Blues season, rather courtesy of Kings assistant Jamie Kompon.
Kompon worked with the Blues and has local ties to Kirkwood Youth Hockey, so he popped into town during his day with the Cup and had it on display at the Kirkwood Community Center.
But like many of the players in the sport it represents, after the public appearance is over, the Cup itself likes to kick back and relax. This time it headed over to O.B. Clark’s in Brentwood, drained a few coldies and wound up scoring some road beef.
One of these years, it might get to stay for more than a day.
