The definitive list of MLB player appearances and references on “Seinfeld”

“Seinfeld” was just named the nation’s funniest all-time sitcom, narrowly edging out “The Honeymooners”, according to a survey commissioned by 60 Minutes and Vanity Fair.  This morning, Andy Gray over at “Sports Illustrated” rounded up his favorite Seinfeld sports moments. The familiar favorites (Keith Hernandez, Paul O’Neill and Buck Showalter) were present, but Gray did a fantastic job in the second half of his list recapping moments of “Seinfeld” characters in the real world.

Ultimately, many references came back to baseball. It’s certainly fitting, given Jerry Seinfeld’s appreciation for America’s pastime. We posted this list a few years ago, but given the Vanity Fair accolade, the Sports Illustrated list and the presence of MLB’s Winter Meetings, it was worth recalling. That is, a comprehensive list of baseball players (alphabetized by last name and annotated with their New York tie) mentioned throughout the storied history of “Seinfeld”.
